I've searched the forums, bug database, Solaris HCL and google, but please feel
free to redirect me if this isn't the appropriate forum.

I'm trying to figure out the equivalent to the Device Configuration Assistant
bootenv.rc and driver_aliases (?) files in OpenSolaris. I just can't seem to
find the documentation about modifying the boot environment. I'm attempting to
add support during install for an LSI MegaRAID i4 adapter.

What I'm trying to do is get an LSI MegaRAID i4 aka Dell CERC ATA Raid card
working during install with either Solaris 10 3/05 or bld 22 or later of
OpenSolaris. I'm trying to use the RAID controller for the boot and other
filesystems instead of booting from a SCSI or IDE boot device. I know there
are issues with it, and it's probably not supported. I see it's listed in the
HCL but it looks like it only works on a running system after modifying the
config, and Solaris does not appear to support booting from this adapter. I
managed to modify the DCA so that Solaris 10 would seem to recognize the card,
at least it gave it as a boot option during install, but it still bombs out at
the end saying no disks found. (I modified the bootenv.rc and the equivalent
of driver_aliases) I tried this after upgrading the firmware to Dell's version
662 instead of LSI's 661 so perhaps it would work if I downgrade the firmware?

I know it's entirely possible that this just isn't supported, but I'd like to
make it work if I could. I'm building a 1 terabyte file server in my basement
and it would be interesting to run it under OpenSolaris!
