Hey Rich, Thanks for the info. In answer to you questions: Can I ask why you're not using Sun's Studio compiler? It's (usually) much better than gcc. But if you must, for some reason, use gcc, I'd say go the blastwave.org route. Among other things, their stuff is more properly packaged, installing into /opt rather than /usr/local.
I am trying to install FireFox web browser and you have to install Flash/Shockwave(Adobe Flash Player) which calls for two libraries, glib-1.2.10 and gtk+-1.2.10. When I tried to run glib, it was looking for the gcc compiler, as it has many .c files. At this point I guess I stuck with gcc, unless Sun's Studio compiler will work. If so, how do I start it?
