Easiest guess is that it isn't needed in order to build a bootstrap
version of OpenSolaris.
By the time you need it, either you've already built it yourself in your
own workspace,
the -t would see to that, or you've installed the kernel and gotten it
as well.
I've got two machines, one with the SUNWonbld supplied by Sun and
one which has the bits after my build.
So on both boxes I built OpenSolaris and only on one have I installed.
The one
which got installed has a copy of elfextract in /opt/onbld/bin/i386. The
other
does not.
The one which has not been installed must have picked the bits up from when
it built them.
Add the -t option back in and you should be good to go.
