Greetings -

Some time ago a coworker gave me 4 CDs worth of Solaris 10 (x86), which I installed onto my multi-OS laptop.

The installation works, but has long been the installation (of seven) which I have visited least, partly because in my day to day work I found Solaris somewhat less tractable than, say, the Linuxes I used. So I kinda avoided booting it much. It even seemed sufficiently flaky that (inter)networking sometimes worked and sometimes didn't ...

However, I thought and still think that it'd be "good for me" to get better acquainted with this system ... so I've come back to take a look ...

... and became aware of this OpenSolaris thing. :) It /appears/ that in order to be a part of this project I need to have "Solaris Express" installed and that this is different (more up to date, etc) from what I currently have installed (I admit that I have typically found Sun-related webpages to be confusingly written). This seems to involve the download of 6 CDs worth of ISO images - not impossible, but time-consuming.

I guess my possibly dumb question is: is there another (possibly faster) way to upgrade a Solaris 10 install?

Thanks,

Glenn
