I have filed a bug report on core dumps for pkgadd in opensolaris developer preview
check /var/sadm/install for core also memory usage wil increase and fail to release. However, Opensolaris is moving in a positive direction, and this is a "Preview" release. My hope is this will be fixed and we can fire of pkg.depotd and download a fix.
