Greetings,
I've searched around a while now, and have not found out how to get a system
console. On the Indiana installation cd, you could log onto console, as well as
without acpi, and both worked fine. That is how I discovered that my intel 3945
wifi works just fine with no acpi from the cd, automatically configured by
NAWM. After install, even with a fixed dsdt appended to /boot/acpi/tables/, I
had no luck with wifi. I found a fix on the forums, which requires a boot into
system console to run mdb. I have tried adding my own versions of console and
acpi to /zpl_slim/boot/grub/menu.lst using the options from the cd menu.lst.
They do boot, but acpi options do not work and invoking a console login goes to
gdm. Can anyone please point the way? The options I need to run for mdb means x
cannot be running (I think). Total newbie question, but this is my first
experience with opensolaris. Thank you!
