well I had a dvd in my desk from 6 months ago (so I guess I am a few releases back) and installed it today. to be honest I thought I would have to enter more info (hostname and networking etc) but I guess there must have been an option to bypass that stuff and just get the os installed. so it went through the install process and I must say I am kind of lost. here are my issues.
1) I have no idea how to get to a desktop, or to know it it was even installed (err startx didnt work :) 2) my nic (ifconfig -a) just shows the loopback 3) my command line backspace just moves forward with an H H H etc (can I remap this?) so there you have it I guess I bypassed the custom configuration step during install (or I think I did I have a new baby and have not slept in like 24 hours)...and I now have no idea how to get started with this new os....I can log in to the command line but I need graphics and networking and the correct keyboad mapping.... thanks in advance...
