What I'm thinking about is to set up a NAS with raidz or raidz2.
Since the number of hard drives is limited by the moderboard, I don't want to
"waste" harddrive connections on the operating system, but would prefer to run
it from USB sticks (speed is not crucial). This is where I run into the problem
of data integrity on a USB stick, and thought of using mirrored USB sticks.

The hard drives need to be accessible from the network via nfs or samba/cifs
but I don't think the space where the operating system resides need to be.

If anyone knows how to set this up I'll appreciate instructions.
