Sorry I can't help you: I have the same problem! The only difference is that Opensolaris gets stuck -not with Ubuntu (I can access Ubuntu)- but after I have opened Windows XP; then, after restart, GRUB fails to load and I have "plenty of nothing"!! Only a blinking underscore up left; as if Opensolaris and Windows are riled....
