Perhaps you are right about advantages of email. And thanks for the snmp idea. 
I'm used to XP for desktop. I look after Solaris 10 SPARC boxes at work. Now I 
migrated to opensolaris for my desktop: XP in VBox stored on a 6-disk raidz 
starts and works faster than a physical single-disk PC!
