The e521 was ordered from dell back when they advertised custom building a
computer. The salesman went over the HCL and assured me it would be out-of-the
box compatible with Solaris. The mx-3203 was bought a little later to keep a
sort of remote learning center with the people I originally wanted to look at
the Solaris features. I removed the original hd with Windows xp home in it and
installed a bigger hd and split the primary partition along with the memory
upgrade. I should have done this with the e521 because reinstalling the OS in
split partition voided my warranty.
Anyway the laptop has been running the open-sourced Solaris for quit a
while with reinstalled Windows xp home. Never bought equipment with
preinstalled Solaris OS in it but if the OS determines the ultimate right of
ownership to THE MACHINE then I gotta just watch it as a game match point. Its
an enigma not THE enigma.
