I replaced my dead NVidia mobo with the ATI 3000 I wrote in the previous post and get the following: it shows the blue login screen (where I can choose session), if I go with the default GNOME desktop it redraws the desktop and the resolution is excellent, windows like quality. then in 3-4 secs there is a spin of the disk and it redraws a white pane all over and from that I need to press the magic button. if I go in failsafe GNOME it's the same. if I go in failsafe terminal, I get the terminal and it is fine. Finally, the Q: is there a way to load the ethernet driver from terminal and force it to rescan the hardware and get what it needs for the new mobo from IPS? I do not want to re-install from the CD as that will erase my rpool. Thanks everybody.
(BTW windows was able to load and after a series of 'new hardware' messages it fetched everything it needed for the new mobo, so it was easy.) -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-help mailing list [email protected]
