I am sorry but I deleted the prior mail so I have no idea what version of
OpenSolaris your are running. There are stable releases of OpenSolaris and
Development releases. Looks like you are on 2009.06 (build 111b) per the
$HOME/.dmrc issue. I would suggest moving to 134 from the dev repository
which is as close as you can get to the 2010.05 stable build.

Okay managed to get the Gnome Display& screen saver but it returns several
error's
1. Your home directory is listed as:'/export/home/David' but it does not appear
to exist. Do you want to log in with the / (root) directory as your home
directory? It is unlikely anything will work unless you use a failsafe session
You need to put an entry in the /etc/auto_home so it maps the password entry to
the real location.
dave motie:/export/home/&
Assuming your home directory is /export/home/dave
After hitting Yes it says...
2. User's $HOME/:dmrc file is being ignored. This prevents the default session
and language from being saved. File should be owned by user and have 644
permissions. User's $HOME directory must be owned by user and not writable by
other user.
After hitting Ok....
Ignore the above since I never got it fixed even after doing the recommended
directory changes.
3. Could not update ICEauthority file/.ICEauthority, and
4. There is a problem with the configuration
server(/usr/lib/gconf-sanity-check-2 exited with status 256).
Read the release notes since the above is covered in that plus other issues.

How to get this work again.
Best,
David
