Occasionally I found two different archives for software for OpenSolaris. The files end with *-pkg.bz2 or with *.tar.bz2 Sample:
firefox-4.0.1.en-US.opensolaris-i386.tar.bz2 firefox-4.0.1.en-US.opensolaris-i386-pkg.bz2 What are the differences? Are they just packed differently? Which format is officially recommended/more used? Can both archives be installed on OS without additional tools?
