Thanks a ton for the quick reply.

devfsadm seemed to do the trick, although not entirely sure why. After the
plumb command ifconfig properly found the card and driver.

zaphod@thebook:~$ pfexec ifconfig -a
lo0: flags=2001000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,VIRTUAL> mtu 8232
index 1
        inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
e1000g0: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 1500 index 2
        inet 192.168.1.104 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255
        ether 0:1b:21:a5:98:4
lo0: flags=2002000849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv6,VIRTUAL> mtu 8252
index 1
        inet6 ::1/128

One comment though, the "ifconfig e1000g0 x.x.x.x netmask y.y.y.y" did not seem
to work and the card was by default configured with DHCP. With a bit of
searching online and several restarts later I was able to finaly get the static
IP working on the card. ALthough somehow I think I removed the rge0 driver/card
in the proces...

Thanks again!
