Try "./Configure linux-elf; make clean; make". The config script
assumes that Linux versions 1.x use the a.out object file format,
where C symbols start with an extra _, and Linux version 2.x (and
later) use the ELF format, which does not have that extra _.
Which version do you use (uname -r)?
