Wow! One learns new things every day... We probably should incorporate
the detection of instruction set into config and feed gcc with
corresponding -mcpu flag, huh? I know how figure this out on Linux ("awk
'/^cpu model/{print$4}' /proc/cpuinfo" does the trick), but I don't have
access to Digital Unix (or whatever they call it now). Julian! Do you
know how to determine ISA there? Can 'uname' tell?
