Its already fixed in the latest snapshot, it will be in the next
release.
The whole code is one of those things that "needs looking at".
Unfortunately there are also some areas that "badly need looking at".
I'm currently investigating some "really urgently need fixing - how the
hell did this ever work?" kind of stuff :-)
