OK, I've now tested this patch applied to 0.9.6d (by the way, the
announcement message incorrectly mentions "beta 1" in the Subject
line).  It works as desired, thanks!  I wouldn't make the messages
this verbose for uses from within the openssl binary, but that's
up to you.

I'll be updating the OpenSSL package in Owl to 0.9.6d + this patch
now.
