Mark, I'm sorry, I can't quite remember where this went. I'm pretty sure part if the issues in this mail were solved as a result of another ticket, but I haven't yet looked into the issue with SSL_CIPHER_get...(). Could you do me the favor of downloading the latest 0.9.7 snapshot and give it a try?
