Sure, what kind of engine are you trying to build/load? I can't see any earthly reason why engines shouldn't work on OS-X, but I haven't tried this myself. Can you post a little more detail about the problem? Also, have you played with "openssl engine -vvvv" at all? It may help by generating an error-trace.
