Confirming referenced patch fixes issue under newer AIX configuration and for newer version of 'openssl'. Probably everything in-between and AIX 6.1 w/ XLC9 as well. Patch format is not understood by AIX 'patch', 'diff' style equivalent attached. AIX 5.3 with recent TL7 SP1 patches and up-to-date XLC8 compiler: oslevel -> 5300-07-01-0748 XLC version 8.0.0.17 OPENSSL version 0.9.8g Thank you for the fix!!!
