The new versioning scheme only permits bugfixes on stable branches, not new
features. So such changes wont go into 1.0.0 or 0.9.8. However we recognise a
need to include new features so they could appear in 0.9.10 (to avoid
confusion with the never released 0.9.9) or 1.0.1.
