I would hope that ARM/WinRT doesn't need this silliness and you can just configure USE_APPLINK off.
The silliness stems from the fact that Microsoft has [bad] habit of making every compiler version link with unique run-time DLL. ARM doesn't seem to be exception, /MD results in link to MSVCR110.dll. Right now there is only one ARM compiler version and there is no problem. But as they release next one, you are more than likely to end up in very same situation. Annoyingly enough they have MSVCRT.DLL in system32 and all "system" components are linked with it.
