Well the end of your output from Configure should look like this (even
on 1.0.1p):

 Since you've disabled or enabled at least one algorithm, you need to do
 the following before building:

         make depend

 Configured for linux-x86_64.

So it does explicitly tell you to run "make depend". I'm not sure I'd
call it a regression that you got away with it before!!
