I agree with you. The biggest trouble I have with what you chose to
quote is basically that it says "we're gonna sue!" but it says NOTHING
about what the suit is about. Oh yeah, "infringement"...
Infringement of exactly what?
bruce.cartland> Not that not acknowledging use of OpenSource

bruce.cartland> doesn't OpenSSL have something on the website about it

For my own part, your message is the first one showing me that press
release (I believe that's what it is, right?). Please remember that
almost all OpenSSL developpers are in Europe, so we're mostly running
in the GMT and CET, so it's possible we were all sleeping when the
press release came. BTW, what timezone is AEST?
Could you tell us where you got that press release from?

bruce.cartland> DevTECH Industries To Start Multi-billion $ Class Action Against
Software Development Firms.
bruce.cartland>
bruce.cartland> AFP - Software legal representative firm DevTECH industries has
today announced a multi billion dollar class action that it will file with the US
supreme court.
bruce.cartland>
bruce.cartland> One of the nations biggest ever actions, the lawsuit targets
well over 15000 software development businesses and its customers with regards to
copyright infringement. DevTECH is acting on behalf of a range of customers that
develop open source tools such as SSL, which is used extensively in today's software.
bruce.cartland>
bruce.cartland> A DevTECH representative stated that this action represents
legal history in the making, since the infringements are so wide spread. DevTECH's
CEO, Tom Kanealy, was quoted as saying "Our customers are fed up with having their
technology openly used without correct copyright acknowledgement. Previously it would
have been impossible to try and legally pursue each individual infringement, although
this opportunity with DevTECH now opens the way for a group of development companies
to be targeted.
bruce.cartland>
bruce.cartland> "This Lawsuit will target some of the world's biggest software
companies, including Microsoft, Novell and Sun Microsystems"
bruce.cartland>
bruce.cartland> Estimates are that damages claims will exceed the 8-10 billion
dollar mark. For companies that may think they are affected by this lawsuit, there is
a special website that has been setup in order to deal with issues prior to going to
court. The address is www.DevTECH.com\Cprght\Cplist.html
