"using Visual C++ as the compiler" -- I'm sorry, but this is completely unhelpful. What is the version you're using? Did you read the INSTALL.W32 file (including installing a version of perl such as ActivePerl and running the Configure.pl script the way that you are supposed to)?
It appears as though the version.c file was not properly generated. Please nmake -f ms\ntdll.mak clean, then re-run the configuration, and retry. (Depending on the default set of variables used by your version of VC++, you may need to add a command-line parameter to not treat warnings as errors.) -Kyle H On 7/30/06, Richters, Eriks A <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Hello I'm trying to build openSSL on a Windows 2003 Server box. Its SP1, and I'm using Visual C++ as the compiler. I've tried several versions of openssl including 0.9.8b, 0.9.8a, and 0.9.7j, unfortunately, I'm getting the same error on all versions. Can anyone help me figure out whats causing it? I've googled the problem and searched the archives. I've found a few similar messages but nothing that has helped. When I run the nmake –f ms\ntdll.mak, it works for a bit then comes back with: cversion.c .\crypto\cversion.c(105) : error C2220: warning treated as error - no 'object' f ile generated .\crypto\cversion.c(105) : warning C4129: 'o' : unrecognized character escape se quence NMAKE : fatal error U1077: 'cl' : return code '0x2' Stop. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Thanks Eriks Richters, CISSP
