That's the issue. I would very much like to propose a follow-up patch, but Robert has disagreed on its very principle, so I don't see a route to have a validated patch. That is, unless some key core contributors to PBR agree with me first. Also, I don't think it is a good idea to carry a Debian specific patch, and I would very much prefer gathering a consensus. I very much agree that it is more than time to have this problem solved. Let's be constructive and fix the situation! Starting this thread was definitively a very good idea, especially considering different people have different opinions.
