Presumably it's because you're taking a trip over iscsi instead of using the native attachment mechanism for the technology that you're using? If so, that's a valid argument, but it's hard to see the tradeoff working in favor of adding all these drivers to nova as well. If cinder doesn't support backend-specific connectors, maybe that's something we could work on?
