+1. I also don’t feel like there is a lot of daily work for the team that would require weekly sync in IRC. We use mailing lists effectively enough. We are no longer broken on a daily basis because of all the safety measures applied. I feel like an email or async irc discussion with others is good enough for my level of involvement.
