I meant "it shows you the tags stored in the iso, _NOT_ what md5sum of the iso 
gives".

No, that's not true.

The only way you can get the 'not an iso' error is when it fails to read the
first 33k of that file. So either it is completely broken or you don't have
read permissions.

Try strace if you don't believe me.
