Imagine the following situation: you used the online update, but did not 
install e.g the Opera patch. The package manager knows about the Opera 
patch, because it already downloaded the list of available (synched 
with the update repository). What will happen if now the user wants to 
install Opera? Will there be a timeout waiting for response from the 
sever (thus a delay before installing from the DVD)? Or a quick check 
that there is no internet connection? Or an error? Of course, I would 
expect what you say: just install from the CD/DVD, and preferably 
without waiting for a response from a server that will never come (a 
very short checking is fine).
