It is triggered in HAL.

GNOME and KDE use their builtin methods, if you need the cmdline,
use "halmount" from package "ivman".

Tha package autofs is necessary?

Thanks

I have the autofs package installed, but autofs is not running. I did try using autofs suitably editing /etc/auto.master and /etc/auto.misc, still ls /media/cdrom returned no such file or directory or returns nothing if I manually create /media/cdrom. On the 10.1 x86_64 box, putting a CD in the drive, it appears in "My Computer", the usual KDE popup appears and it is opened in konqueror as system:/media/hdc and /media/CND5/ is created with the contents of the CD in it, autofs is not running either.
