Ah, just remembered. While I have not tested this particular minimal
example, I have run something using the library on which it is based
on a laptop that is identical to one of mine, but using RHEL5. It had
no problems. So this rules out the possibility that it is machine
specific - got to be something about OpenSuse libraries.
