Why you do not set a new root password in the rescue mode?

> Booted 'Rescue'
> logged in as 'root' (no password reqd for rescue system, OK).
> 
> mkdir /sda3
> mount /dev/sda3 /sda3

cd /sda3
chroot .
passwd root

exit
reboot
