Hi!

I'm pretty sure not. The Gnome panel shows the Mixer, and it's in the
state which I had when rebooting (= not mute). Because after a
rcalsasound restart the state is the same (not mute) and sound is then
working.
And if I change to console (e.g. Ctrl+F1) I can hear the sound played
in Gnome-banshee, without doing a alsa restart. But when I change back
(Ctrl+F7) all hangs and I have to do a cold restart.
So for me it seems that alsa in stage 5 has to be loaded after gdm / xdm.

It's boring me that I always have to get root-privileges to restart alsa.

Any ideas, where are the gnome specialists?

Johannes
