I was wondering if someone could tell me how to configure Slick. After
installing, I found,
1. No email client - when I selected Kmail from Kynaptic it downloaded and
opened as I presume it was supposed to but I couldn't configure anything. I
selected - Settings, Configure Kmail and it opened a blank page. Which said
at the bottom "Blank Page"
2. "You" is telling me there are updates available, when I do online update
it says it's downloading and installing but when finished, You says there
are more updates and when I look they are the same ones I just did.
When I go to Yast - software management - installation summary everything is
locked. So I unlocked and selected to update the kernel from Slick to
2.6.13-15.8 and did the update. When I checked after the update it was again
locked to the Slick version.
3. Konqueror won't let me browse to secure sites. This issue was fixed in KDE
3.5.2 but it won't let me update KDE either.
4.In office the only thing available is a pdf reader.
5. Firefox 1.5b is advertised as being on the disc but the version installed
is 1.4-9 and locked.
I like the idea of Slick but none of my other software ATI drivers, SPCA5XX,
MPlayer etc will install, due to unresolved dependencies Most require
2.6.13-15.8, Gcc, SDL, etc How do I fix this? Is there a way I can unlock the
software to allow You to do updates?
Having a lightweight install is a good base to configure a system not loaded
with software you don't need but if you can't install what you need it's a
bit pointless.
