If you want *really* high-end LCD monitor, then go for "NEC Opticlear 17" " - he uses some special technology that makes it look 5x times more contrast & brightness than all-other models. This super-abilities are not shown in paper-specs -- but only in real-life. It is so bright that it is viewable against direct Sun. Other LCDs pale against it.
