Thanks Peder,

Meanwhile I think it's actually a problem of digikam. I could reproduce the 
saving error even when logged in (it seems it depends of the sequence of 
actions taken in the program).

ls -lad $HOME gives drwxr-xr-x for both users
and pwd gives /home/digi

I think thats how it should be...
