Hello: I have something similar, exactly: CheckHardware --sound xmms %U for mp3 association in konqueror. But even if I right click on a song file and select 'open with other' and run 'xmms %U' I get the same effect. I guess the culprit is xmms not KDE. Are you using the same version of xmms as me? Once more I have problem only with mp3 files that have empty spaces in their name.
