It doesn't waste any memory is uses all of the spare memory for cache so that files are found faster and there by load faster. In the case of windows it just plain uses most of the memory for the running programs which are highly bloated to begin with. Why do you think most PC's cannot be upgraded to Vista without a memory upgrade?
