[opensuse] Changing refresh rate

I want to change the refresh rate of my monitor to a higher value than
the defaults values. I have tried to modify the /etc/X11/xorg.conf
file in order to add the desired refresh value, but nothing is changed
in the list of values displayed by sax2 for example. Any suggestions?
