Hi all. I have a "headless black box" in a closet that i fiddle around with quite a lot, and its a bit annoying not knowing when it has rebooted properly and is ready for service. I think it was the "Smoothwall" firewall that beeped me when it botted up and was running. But i never got the hang of how. I did a google on "how to make beeps at startup", and the onlything i came up with is the command "beep". But if i run it nothing happens??? No sound, nada. All i want is the machine to make a few beeps as it is finnished entering runlevel 3 (My default RL for that one) There is no soundcard in it, so running esd, alsa or anything else is out of the question.
