You can check:
  grep ACM /boot/config-2.6.22.3-ccj53-default
it will give you all entries that contain ACM as substring. 

  grep ACM config-2.6.22.5-12-default
gives
  # CONFIG_FB_MACMODES is not set
  CONFIG_USB_ACM=m

If it is not compiled in 2.6.22.3-ccj53-default kernel you have to install 
kernel sources for that kernel, and run
  make manuconfig
or better 
  make xconfig
that has search function and you can jump direct to settings that you want to 
change. 

In your case it can be that you need moto4lin program, or at least to see some 
articles there: 
  http://moto4lin.sourceforge.net/wiki/Main_Page
