[opensuse] Question about the size of initrd.

Dear all,
        I just compiled 2.6.23-9, and installed it, with no problem. Then 
`mkinitrd`, 
when I noticed that
-rw-r--r-- 1 root      root   12M 2007-11-27 23:10 initrd-2.6.23.9-default
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4.2M 2007-11-27 22:15 initrd-2.6.22.12-0.1-default
        Why my initrd is so big? I need to do some configuration?
