If we (Linux users, supporters and/or promoters) consider Windows to be 
our competition and Microsoft our adversary, then undermining its 
stranglehold on the desktop application space (clearly an overt 
Microsoft tactic) by coopting a key technology invented by them to 
effect that tactic would seem to be a vital coup, and ironic, to boot.

Is my logic off?
