[opensuse] suse 9.3 boot problem

I have a hard drive with suse 9.3 on it.  It died.  I thought it was the 
mb, butI put it in another box, with the same result:
grub starts ok, then while loading the menu? it says: Error 16

Any thoughts?  I don't know if it is a grub error, a bios error (post) 
or what.  the box has an amd bios.
