In order to comply with my IT department's need to encrypt all
personal data on laptops, I removed my working 10.2 installation from
my HP/Compaq NW9440 laptop (2G ram) and installed 10.3.

I used KDAR (first mistake) to archive all my current stuff on an
external hard drive. I've since spent about three hours in rebooting
and installing dependencies to finally install KDAR since it was
mysteriously removed from the 10.3 distro.

In any case, I've got three major issues.

First - I get the message "could not start kstartupconfig" right when
my x server starts. The only things I could find were

http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-kde/2005-12/msg00017.html

and

http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2006-10/msg00619.html

Which don't seem to help much.

Ideas?

Also, I've installed the nvidia repository and changed to the nvidia
drivers. Now my screen seems to freeze on a random basis - I can move
the mouse around but no click and no keyboard input.

Third, I can't seem to get wireless working worth a darn. I have an
intel 3945A driver, installed. It won't see my wireless network about
half the time.

What's going on here? I've installed twice. I don't really want to do
it again.
