C'mon, they never innovated anything, they bought, copied, borrowed, or perhaps 
worse. Then in the interest of making it look like innovation, usually messed 
it up.

And BASIC was only stable until it decided to garbage collect. Then it would be 
rock solid (as in stationary, doing nothing, for ages ;)
