Help, this is driving me mad and I know it's going to be simple to fix!

I am running OpenSuse 10.3 on a dell 745 with no problems until recently
I have not been able to automount CD's or USB devices. When the CD or
device is inserted I get the window asking me what I would like to do,
normally I would open a new window. This is OK and opens a window to
system:/media/sr0 (for cd's). However no files are displayed and this
message is presented to me :

A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this
message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected
message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount"
error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")

Also in /var/log/messages I have : automount[4348]: do_mount_indirect:
failed to get group info from getgrgid_r

I had a feeling it may be permissions, but where? I am using an OpenLdap
server to authenticate, so it may be that I am not getting the correct
group info?

I can mount as root, but then my user can't access device.

Any help would be much appreciated,

Many thanks, Neil.
